In an administrative reshuffle, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, a distinguished officer from the 2012 IAS batch, has been appointed as the Administrative Secretary of the Planning Development and Monitoring Department in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he has been entrusted with the additional charge of Administrative Secretary for the Civil Aviation Department until further orders.
Prior to his new role, Asad served as the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, where he played a crucial role in the administration of the region. A man of diverse talents, Asad is not only recognized for his administrative acumen but also for his contributions to Urdu poetry, particularly in the realms of political satire and romance.
A graduate of the prestigious IIT Delhi, Asad’s professional journey has been marked by significant milestones. He started his career at Engineers India Limited, showcasing his prowess in the field. Over the years, he has held various pivotal positions, including SDM of Khansahib Sub-Division in Budgam district, Deputy/Additional Secretary to CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, and Deputy Commissioner of Shopian.
