Uttar Pradesh government has appointed IAS officer Satyendra Kumar as the new District Magistrate of Varanasi. A 2013-batch officer, Kumar most recently served in the Chief Minister’s Office as Special Secretary to Yogi Adityanath—a role that placed him at the heart of key policy execution and governance strategy.
Kumar takes over from S. Rajalingam, who has been promoted to the post of Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, marking a steady rise in his bureaucratic career.
