The Punjab government has appointed IAS officer Vijoy Kumar Singh, a seasoned bureaucrat from the 1990-batch, as the Special Chief Secretary to Chief Minister of Punjab. This move comes after a prolonged vacancy in the position following the retirement of IAS officer Venu Prasad in July.
Vijoy Kumar Singh, who was previously on a central deputation, has been repatriated to Punjab to take up this crucial role. His extensive experience and exemplary service record make him well-suited for the responsibilities associated with the position. Singh’s return to the state administration is anticipated to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Chief Minister’s office.
Before assuming his new role, Singh served in the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare at the Centre, showcasing his dedication to public service. His distinguished career also includes holding key positions such as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles and Joint Secretary at the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
