ICT Secretary Amit Sharma Champions Digital Inclusion, Honours Top VLEs at CSC Diwas: Mizoram

Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government of Mizoram, Information Technology and Cooperation Departments, made an inspiring address to the Village-level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) during the 16th Common Service Centre (CSC) Foundation Day, being celebrated all across the nation, particularly in Mizoram, wherein he was invited as the Chief Guest to grace this important occasion.

Amit Sharma -Common Service Centre Diwas was celebrated in Mizoram at the I&PR Conference Hall, Lianchhiari Run, Aizawl wherein Information & Communication Technology Department Secretary Amit Sharma, as apart from delivering his inspiring address to the Village-level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), presented awards to the three outstanding Village-level Entrepreneurs for their top performances at national level in various services during the year 2024-25. They include VL Ramropuii (Kolasib District), Lalnunpuia Kawlni (Aizawl District) and Hmingthanmawia (Lawnglai District).

During his quality-oriented speech, Secretary ICT Amit Sharma highlighted the importance of CSC’s work in the modern times wherein it can help the cause of last mile villagers, especially those who are staying next to Bangladesh and Myanmar Borders and he said that it also helps in creating more and more job opportunities for tech-savvy youth of Mizoram.

Amit Sharma, Secretary ICT, who also happens to Secretary Cooperation, shared that this year, while celebrating International Year of Cooperation, it has been decided that MPACS of Cooperation should have CSCs as one of the major vertical and this indeed shall help in maximising revenues of MPACS and also help in expanding CSC network to the grassroot levels upto all Village and Local Councils of Mizoram.

He also shared several ICT initiatives taken in Mizoram over past one year including successful implementation of e-Office in Secretariat, signing of historical multi-lingual BHASHINI MoU with Government of India, bringing various AI-enabled Courses for the Government Employees and Students here.

Secretary ICT Amit Sharma emphasized that CSCs role in serving the public is crucial and he encouraged Village-level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), to work with total dedication and commitment, alongwith creating awareness towards using e-Services, through close interaction with the public. While underlying the significance of e-Office and its practical implementation, Amit shared that ICT Department is trying hard to bring all the key services of major departments such as Revenue, Home, FCS&CA, Agriculture, Horticulture, Transport, Rural & Urban Development, Forest etc within the fold of e-Services, which shall be further provisioned to all citizens residing in distant hilly terrains of the state through our CSCs.

Before culminating the address, the chief guest Secretary Amit Sharma mentioned that the VLEs running CSCs should strive hard to make their services more accessible and efficient for the public and employees. He wished the gathering a successful celebration of CSC Diwas.

The event was presided over by Pu Lalduhkima, State Incharge, who welcomed the attendees. Reports on CSC’s activities for 2024-25 were presented by Pu Denghlira, District Manager for Hnathial and Siaha. After the awards, Pu Lalnunzama, District Manager for Kolasib, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the event.
