Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is inviting applications for the courses offered at its Zanzibar Campus, a unique partnership between the Governments of India, Zanzibar, and IIT Madras. The academic programs will commence in October 2023.
The IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science & AI, which spans four years, or a Master of Technology degree in Data Science & AI, which takes two years to complete. These programs are available to students of any nationality, including Indians.
Students will also be presented with a myriad of captivating opportunities throughout their academic journey. These opportunities encompass the chance to participate in study abroad or semester exchange programs with esteemed partner institutions in the United Kingdom, Australia, and other countries.
Additionally, students will have the prospect of securing internships with various relevant companies, as well as the option to fulfill certain course requirements at the picturesque IIT Madras campus in Chennai, India.

Elaborating on the admission process, Prof. Preeti Aghalayam, the Dean of the School of Engineering and Science and Director-in-charge of the Zanzibar campus, IIT Madras, stated, ‘The selection process comprises a screening test, which is an aptitude test covering mathematics, science, English, and analytical ability. Additionally, students will have interviews with faculty members. Applicants who have successfully completed Class XII, Form VI, or an equivalent qualification within the past three years are eligible to apply for the BS program. Similarly, individuals with a 4-year undergraduate degree in any engineering or science discipline may apply for the MTech program.’
