Inclusive Growth: Approval for All-Girls Sainik School Under New Initiative

In a significant move towards inclusivity and empowerment, the Ministry of Defence has approved the establishment of an All-Girls Sainik School under the initiative of setting up 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs, private entities, and state government schools across all states and union territories.

Contrary to the established pattern of co-educational Sainik Schools, the new initiative opens avenues for the creation of all-girls Sainik Schools, breaking traditional barriers and providing equal opportunities in the realm of military education. As part of this groundbreaking development, Samvid Gurukulam Senior Secondary School in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, has received approval to function as an All-girls Sainik School.

This initiative is aligned with the broader goal of fostering diversity and encouraging girls to actively participate in the Sainik School system. The decision to expand the Sainik School network to include all-girls institutions reflects a commitment to creating an inclusive educational landscape that caters to the diverse aspirations and talents of young individuals.

It is essential to note that all 33 Sainik Schools established under the erstwhile pattern, including the recently inaugurated schools in Amethi, Jhansi, and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, are co-educational. However, the new initiative marks a departure from this pattern, recognizing the importance of providing dedicated spaces for girls to pursue education in a Sainik School environment.
