Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers Alok Ranjan and Amit Garg have been appointed to lead two of the nation’s prominent law enforcement agencies—the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), respectively.
Alok Ranjan, a 1991-batch IPS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Director of NCRB, succeeding Vivek Gogia (IPS: 1991: UT). Gogia was prematurely repatriated at the request of his cadre. Ranjan will serve as NCRB’s head until his superannuation in June 2026.
Meanwhile, Amit Garg, a 1993-batch IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed as the regular Director of SVPNPA, India’s premier police training institution. Garg, who has served as the interim chief of SVPNPA for an extended period, will now lead the academy until October 31, 2027.
