IPS officer Rajesh Nirwan (RJ:1992) has been appointed as the new Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), a pivotal position responsible for ensuring the security and safety of civil aviation in the country. His extensive experience in law enforcement and security management is expected to strengthen aviation security measures nationwide.
Hailing from Jodhpur, Rajesh Nirwan holds degrees in CA, MBA, and a Master’s in Police Management. His diverse academic background, combined with his vast experience in policing and security operations, makes him well-suited for this significant role.
Nirwan began his career as Superintendent of Police in the Crime Investigation Department (CID) (CB) in Jaipur. He later served as SP in multiple districts, including Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, and Kota City. His expertise and leadership skills led to his promotion as DIG of Police in 2007, following which he was posted with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) until 2009.
In 2010, Nirwan was promoted to the rank of Inspector General and took charge of the Ajmer Range, serving until 2012. His contributions to national security continued when he assumed key positions in the Border Security Force (BSF), serving as IG and ADG in New Delhi from October 2016 to October 2023.
