Senior IPS officer SBK Singh has been given additional charge as the Commissioner of Delhi Police following the retirement of Sanjay Arora. Singh, a 1988-batch officer and the current Director General of Home Guards, will serve in the role until a full-time appointment is made.
Singh, the youngest officer of his batch, is due to retire in February 2026. He brings with him extensive experience across various wings of the police force, having held key positions in Delhi Police, the Research and Analysis Wing (R\&AW), and Arunachal Pradesh.
A recipient of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Singh is known for his disciplined leadership style and emphasis on technology-driven policing. As Special Commissioner (Technology and Project Implementation), he played a pivotal role in launching citizen-centric platforms such as the ‘Lost Report’ mobile application and the web-based ‘Police Clearance Certificate’ service.
He also served with distinction in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo, where he was awarded the UN Peacekeeping Medal.
Singh’s career trajectory includes a wide range of postings—starting from ACP Karol Bagh to roles like Additional DCP South, DCP North-East, and DCP Central. He went on to head the Economic Offences Wing and served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Special Commissioner (Intelligence and Security). Most recently, as Special Commissioner (Law and Order), Singh oversaw operations of 85 police stations across seven districts in the capital.
