J&K Government Hosts State-Level Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Workshop

The Department of Information Technology, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), successfully conducted a two-day state-level Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP) Workshop and Cybersecurity Exercise.

Aimed at strengthening cyber resilience across the Union Territory, the workshop brought together senior government officials including Administrative Secretaries, Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), Information Security Officers (ISOs), and nodal officers from multiple departments.

Inaugurating the event, Satish Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, underscored the strategic importance of cybersecurity in ensuring uninterrupted and secure digital governance. He termed the initiative a vital step toward safeguarding citizen services in an increasingly interconnected environment.

Dr. Piyush Singla, IAS, Secretary, IT Department, delivered the welcome address, calling cybersecurity a cornerstone of good governance and public trust. He urged departments to build resilient systems and cultivate a cyber-aware workforce.

A keynote address by Saurabh Bhagat, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, FCS&CA, stressed the need for inter-departmental cooperation and proactive measures to counter evolving cyber threats. He encouraged participants to emerge as “cyber warriors” through continuous learning and simulation exercises.

The workshop featured hands-on crisis response simulations, interactive sessions, and discussions on institutional preparedness and threat landscapes, offering practical exposure to CCMP frameworks.

In the valedictory session, Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In, emphasized a shift from reactive approaches to proactive cyber resilience, highlighting the need for regular training, drills, and integration with national cybersecurity initiatives.

Closing remarks were made by Dr. Piyush Singla, while Ms. Mahima Madan, IAS, CEO, JaKeGA, delivered the vote of thanks.

The initiative supports the Digital India mission and addresses the pressing need for secure and resilient digital infrastructure in the wake of rising cyber incidents, reinforcing public trust in government IT systems.
