The Karnataka government has carried out a significant reshuffle in the state police leadership, signaling a strong response to mounting public criticism and demands for accountability.
In a high-level shake-up, Additional Director General of Police Ravi S has been appointed as the new Director of State Intelligence. Ravi, a 1998-batch IPS officer, was previously serving as the Principal Secretary to the Government (PCAS). He replaces Hemant M Nimbalkar, who has now been transferred and posted as the Commissioner of Information and Public Relations.
As part of the reshuffle, KV Sharath Chandra, who served as the ADGP of Recruitment, has been appointed the new PCAS. He will also take on additional responsibilities as chairman and managing director of the Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.
Meanwhile, ADGP S. Murugan, currently overseeing Communication, Logistics, and Modernization, will now also hold concurrent charge of Recruitment. Similarly, ADGP R. Hitendra, who heads the Law and Order division, has been tasked with the additional role of overseeing Traffic and Road Safety.
