Lt Gen Shankar Narayan Designated as Commandant of Army Hospital (R & R)

Lieutenant General Shankar Narayan, NM, VSM, assumed the role of Commandant at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), the premier medical institution of the Armed Forces Medical Services, on July 10, 2024.

Lt Gen Narayan, an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (1982 ‘U’ batch), brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Specializing in Pediatrics, he completed his post-doctoral sub-specialization in Neonatology at AIIMS, New Delhi, and received advanced training in Pediatric Liver Transplantation at King’s College Hospital, London.

Throughout his illustrious career, Lt Gen Narayan has amassed extensive experience in patient care, clinical services, postgraduate teaching, and medical administration. Upon taking command, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his predecessors and senior colleagues for their leadership in elevating the hospital to its current esteemed status.
