The Ministry of Ayush has officially opened nominations for the prestigious Prime Minister’s Yoga Awards (PMYA) 2025, in conjunction with the upcoming International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations. The awards aim to honor individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the promotion and development of Yoga at both national and international levels.
Established to recognize the transformative impact of Yoga on society, the PMYA celebrates outstanding contributions that underscore Yoga’s role in disease prevention, health promotion, and lifestyle disorder management. Endorsed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, these awards reflect the government’s dedication to promoting Yoga as a holistic wellness practice.
The awards will be presented in four categories: National Individual, National Organization, International Individual, and International Organization. Each recipient will receive a trophy, a certificate, and a cash award of Rs. 25 lakh.
Eligibility criteria require individuals to be 40 years or older with a minimum of 20 years of dedicated service in Yoga advocacy. Applications and nominations can be submitted via the MyGov platform at https://innovateindia.mygov.in/pm-yoga-awards-2025/ by March 31, 2025. The link is also accessible on the Ministry of Ayush’s website and the websites of its autonomous bodies. Applicants can either self-nominate or be nominated by a recognized Yoga organization, with each applicant allowed to apply for only one category.
The selection process involves a two-tier evaluation: a Screening Committee will shortlist up to 50 candidates per category, followed by a final review by an Evaluation Jury comprising distinguished personalities from diverse fields.
The Ministry of Ayush remains committed to fostering traditional systems of medicine and wellness, including Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy, aiming to integrate these practices into mainstream healthcare for enhanced community well-being.
