The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has recently made significant appointments in its top ranks, signaling a change in leadership. In an official announcement, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirmed the appointments of seasoned diplomats to crucial positions.
IFS Jaideep Mazumdar, a distinguished officer of the 1989 batch, currently serving as the Ambassador at the Embassy of India in Vienna, has been appointed as the new Secretary (East). He will be succeeding IFS Saurabh Kumar in his new role.
IFS Pavan Kapoor, an officer of the 1990 batch and the current Ambassador of India in Moscow, has been appointed as the new Secretary (West). Kapoor will take over from IFS Sanjay Verma in this key role. While, IFS Sanjay Verma, has been appointed as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), underlining the government’s recognition of his contributions to the diplomatic service.
