The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has officially launched the ‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities’ portal at www.aaina.gov.in. This groundbreaking initiative invites Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) nationwide to actively engage by voluntarily submitting crucial data regularly. This can be accomplished through a user-friendly data entry form available on the portal, streamlining the process for participating cities.
The primary objectives of the AAINA Dashboard are to help cities to
- See how they are faring vis-à-vis other cities
- Inspire them by pointing to possibilities and areas of improvement and
- Providing opportunity to learn and engage with frontrunners.
- While not ranking the ULBs, the AAINA dashboard would serve as a tool for comparing similarly placed cities and promoting peer learning among cities.
The Dashboard will present the data submitted by the ULBs on the basis of indicators across five broad pillars
- Political & Administrative Structure
- Finance
- Planning
- Citizen Centric Governance
- Delivery of Basic Services.
Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are required to submit their data, which encompasses audited accounts and self-reported performance metrics, by accessing the dashboard’s portal. ULBs have the flexibility to update the information they initially provided at any time on the portal based on their specific requirements.
The Dashboard is designed to serve as a lasting platform for Urban Local Bodies (ULB) data, intended for regular updates. Through the collaborative efforts of all ULBs, the ‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities’ seeks to establish a comprehensive database of essential performance metrics.
This database will be accessible to all stakeholders and will eventually be made public once it is adequately populated. The Ministry, in collaboration with Digital India Corporation, will offer supportive guidance to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and states during the data submission process, providing assistance as needed.
