The National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME), an esteemed organization under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, has been honored with an Accreditation Certificate, signifying its exceptional services in promoting and developing MSMEs. The recognition comes after the successful completion of the National Standards for Civil Services Training Institutions (NSCSTI) process, conducted by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and ICARE.
The prestigious accolade was awarded during the Civil Services Training Institutions (CSTI) Convention at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, where the Director General of NI-MSME received the certificate from Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology; Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions; Atomic Energy; Space & Prime Minister’s Office. The institute was awarded the “UTKRISHT” grading, signifying a 3-star rating, based on a comprehensive inspection of its Standard Operating Procedures and Methodologies at various levels.
Established in 1962, NI-MSME has been at the forefront of fostering a pro-business environment, contributing significantly to the growth and success of MSMEs in India and beyond. Through its four Schools of Excellence—School of Enterprise Development (SED), School of Enterprise Management (SEM), School of Entrepreneurship & Extension (SEE), and School of Enterprise Information & Communication (SEIC)—the institute has continuously pursued intellectual activities that have impacted over half a million participants.
NI-MSME has established several Centers of Excellence, including the National Resource Centre for Cluster Development (NRCD), which has played a pivotal role in the development of over 150 clusters. Recently, the institute expanded its reach by setting up the FinRISE (Financial Research & Innovation for Sustainable Enterprises) and Biochar Unit centers, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable enterprise development.
In its long history, NI-MSME has trained over 5.7 lakh participants through 16,902 programs, including officials from various government ministries and state governments. The institute has also empowered 1.85 lakh educated unemployed youth through 6,139 Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programmes (ESDPs) and has been implementing the ITEC Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, since 1967, training 11,019 international executives from 145 developing countries.
NI-MSME’s legacy extends beyond India, with its expertise benefiting numerous developing countries and garnering partnerships with prestigious international organizations like UNIDO, UNDP, UNESCO, ILO, and UNICEF, among others. The recent accreditation further underscores NI-MSME’s invaluable contributions to the global MSME ecosystem.
