The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 22 National Highway Projects on Sunday. These projects, collectively spanning 268 kilometers and valued at over ₹4,000 Crore, mark a substantial investment in enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time for the region.
Among the key projects unveiled is the Huliyar-KB cross-Chunchanahalli-Nelligere road, strategically designed to improve connectivity between Mysuru and North Karnataka. This initiative holds the promise of not only easing travel but also bolstering economic activity in the region.
A significant milestone is the inauguration of the Mysuru Ring Road, equipped with service roads and Road Under Bridges (RUBs), aimed at alleviating city congestion. This development is set to ensure seamless traffic flow in and around Mysuru, enhancing the overall commuting experience for residents and visitors alike.
The 4-lane expansion of Belur-Hassan and Yedegowdanahalli-Bilikere road sections is expected to be a game-changer, accompanied by the installation of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) at Hangarahalli and Holenarasipur Bypass. These upgrades are forecasted to reduce travel time by a notable 2 hours, facilitating smoother and faster journeys for commuters.
Addressing urban congestion challenges, the construction of a major bridge over the Lakshmanathirtha River aims to decongest Hunsur Town, demonstrating a commitment to efficient urban planning. Additionally, the development of Srinivasapura and Chintamani bypasses is targeted at reducing congestion in these bustling cities, further enhancing the region’s connectivity.
The comprehensive plan includes the strategic construction of major and minor bridges, along with Rail Over Bridges (ROBs) on railway level crossings. These measures underscore a concerted effort to ensure unhindered traffic movement and improve overall road safety.
