New Delhi: The Supreme Court introduced a new portal called ‘SuSwagatam’, an online platform that allows advocates, visitors, interns, and others to conveniently register themselves and obtain e-passes for entering the apex court.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud promptly introduced the availability of this online service and mentioned that SuSwagatam is a web-based and mobile-friendly application that allows users to register themselves online and request e-passes for various purposes such as attending court hearings and meeting advocates.
Justice Chandrachud mentioned that the ‘SuSwagatam’ portal was initially tested as a pilot project starting on July 25, 2023, and has received positive feedback from the users. According to the latest update on August 9, over 10,000 e-passes have been issued through the portal on a pilot basis.
Key features of ‘SuSwagatam’ portal:
- SuSwagatam is an initiative to facilitate the visitors to have a smooth and simple process of getting online e-Pass required to visit the SCI for official/case-related purposes.
- It has advanced features of eliminating all the cumbersome and tedious procedures of making a request for a visit.
- Cloud-based application software developed by NIC with an easy-to-use graphical interface and embedded with comprehensive security features.
- It assists in maintaining all relevant information about the visitor, which is automatically saved in a database.
- Depending on their requirements and police clearance certificates, SuSwagatam’s users can select several validity periods for their e-passes.
