In a bid to foster greater unity and cultural understanding among the youth of different states and union territories, the Ministry of Education has officially launched the registration portal for Phase IV of Yuva Sangam under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative. This unique program, initiated by Prime Minister Modi in 2016, aims to strengthen people-to-people connections between the youth of diverse regions within India.
The Yuva Sangam initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizes experiential learning and the appreciation of India’s rich diversity. The registration portal, open to interested youth aged 18-30, including students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, employed/self-employed individuals, etc., will remain active until February 4, 2024.
Participants in Yuva Sangam will have the opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange, immersing themselves in the diverse facets of life, natural landscapes, development landmarks, recent achievements, and youth connectivity in the host state. The program covers five broad areas: Tourism, Traditions, Development, People-to-people connect, and Technology.
The ongoing cultural exchange is part of the ‘Whole of Government’ approach, involving various ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Home Affairs, Culture, Tourism, Youth Affairs & Sports, Information & Broadcasting, Department for Development of North-East Region (DoNER), and Railways.
Twenty-two eminent institutions across India have been identified for Phase IV of Yuva Sangam, during which participants from different states/UTs, led by the nodal Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) of each state/UT, will visit their paired counterparts. These visits, lasting 5-7 days (excluding travel days), offer a unique opportunity for the participants to gain a deep understanding of the host state’s culture and engage with local youth.
The success of previous phases, with registrations reaching 16767, 21380, and 29151 respectively, highlights the growing enthusiasm and participation in Yuva Sangam. Over 2,870 youth have participated in 69 tours, contributing actively to national celebrations and various nation-building activities.
