PM Modi Unveils Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana to Empower 1 Crore Households with Rooftop Solar

In a historic move aimed at transforming India’s energy landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-profile meeting at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg to announce the launch of the ambitious “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana.” The scheme targets the installation of rooftop solar panels on one crore houses, with the primary objectives of reducing electricity bills for citizens and fostering self-reliance in the energy sector.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the potential of harnessing solar power from every household’s roof, highlighting the dual benefits of cutting electricity costs and achieving Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) energy needs. The initiative is poised to bring about a significant shift towards renewable energy adoption, enabling low and middle-income families to generate power and earn additional income through surplus electricity production.

Prime Minister Modi directed the initiation of a nationwide campaign to encourage widespread adoption of rooftop solar installations among residential consumers. The move is expected to drive large-scale participation and propel India towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy future.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi expressed his vision for a solar-powered India, stating, ‘Today, on the auspicious occasion of the consecration of life in Ayodhya, my resolve has been further strengthened that the people of India should have their own solar rooftop system on the roof of their houses.’ He emphasized that the scheme would not only alleviate the burden of electricity bills on the poor and middle class but also contribute to India’s self-reliance in the energy sector.

The Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana is set to empower one crore households across the nation, marking a significant step towards sustainable and affordable energy solutions. The announcement follows Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to renewable energy and his first decision upon returning from Ayodhya, demonstrating the government’s dedication to the welfare and economic upliftment of its citizens.

This ambitious initiative is expected to shape the future of India’s energy landscape, fostering environmental sustainability, and paving the way for a more prosperous and self-sufficient nation. Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative project.
