PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Development Projects Worth Over Rs 4150 Crores in Dwarka, Gujarat

With an aim to boosting infrastructure and connectivity in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth more than Rs 4150 crores in Dwarka today.

Among the key highlights of the event was the inauguration of the Sudarshan Setu, a remarkable Cable-stayed bridge connecting Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka island. This bridge, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs. 980 crores, spans an impressive 2.32 kilometers, making it the longest of its kind in the country. What sets the Sudarshan Setu apart is its unique design, featuring a footpath adorned with verses from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Bhagwan Krishna on both sides. Additionally, solar panels installed on the footpath’s upper portions generate one megawatt of electricity, adding a sustainable aspect to its functionality.

The Sudarshan Setu is expected to greatly improve transportation efficiency and reduce travel time for devotees journeying between Dwarka and Beyt-Dwarka. Previously, pilgrims had to rely on boat transport to reach Beyt Dwarka, making this bridge a vital link for the region. Beyond its functional utility, the Sudarshan Setu is poised to become a major tourist attraction, adding to the allure of Devbhumi Dwarka.

In addition to the bridge, Prime Minister Modi dedicated a pipeline project at Vadinar, involving the replacement of existing offshore lines and the relocation of the entire system to a new, nearby location. This move is set to enhance the efficiency and safety of the pipeline network in the area.

Railway electrification projects were also inaugurated, including the Rajkot-Okha, Rajkot-Jetalsar-Somnath, and Jetalsar-Wansjaliya lines. These electrification efforts will modernize the railway infrastructure, promoting cleaner and more sustainable transportation options.

Furthering the region’s connectivity, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the widening of the Dhoraji-Jamkandorna-Kalavad section of NH-927D, a crucial step towards improving road networks in the area. Additionally, the Regional Science Center at Jamnagar and the Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) system installation at Sikka Thermal Power Station, Jamnagar were also inaugurated, signaling advancements in scientific research and environmental sustainability.
