Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the launch of three new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centres of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to the fields of healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable cities, calling it a significant step in India’s quest for technological leadership.
The announcement came in response to a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, highlighting the establishment of these centres as a major initiative aimed at fostering innovation and addressing key sectoral challenges through AI.
‘A very important stride in India’s effort to become a leader in tech, innovation, and AI. I am confident these CoEs will benefit our Yuva Shakti and contribute towards making India a hub for futuristic growth,’ the Prime Minister said in his post.
The newly launched CoEs aim to drive research and development across critical areas that are crucial for India’s socio-economic progress. In the healthcare sector, AI is expected to transform diagnostics, treatment, and patient care, while in agriculture, it will enhance productivity and sustainability. The focus on sustainable cities aims to harness AI to tackle urban challenges such as pollution, energy management, and infrastructure optimization.
These centres align with the government’s broader vision of making India a global leader in AI-driven technologies, underscoring the critical role of youth in shaping a digital and innovation-driven future. The move is expected to not only foster technological advancements but also generate opportunities for skilled employment and innovation ecosystems in the country.
