To mitigate or reduce the impact of disasters, ISRO has announced its fourth opportunity for a capacity building (CB) program in the Space-Based Disaster Management Support Programme, which is funded under the ISRO DMS program since 2021.
This program seeks proposals for Capacity Building programs in various areas of space-based disaster management support. It is open to scientists, engineers, and faculty members from ISRO/Department of Space (DOS) Centres & Units, R&D institutions, and recognized Academic Institutes in India. Successful applicants will receive financial support from ISRO under the DMSP.
The 4th Announcement of Opportunity (AO) proposal is being invited for 2023-24 for which the program details are given below:
Types of Capacity Building Programmes will include two formats, i.e. In-person and Online capacity- building programmes
- In-person Programmes: These include different levels of training courses and workshops.
- Online Programmes: Following types of programmes/ activities can be taken up on the topics mentioned in Table 1, targeting different levels of participants.
- Webinars (4-5 in a day or in a distributed manner in 1-2 months)
- Short Courses (1-2 weeks; each day 1-1.5 hours per day; as conducted currently by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun)
The ISRO will offer financial support for various capacity-building programs. The parent institution/ organization of the PI must have the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and computing resources to successfully conduct the proposed capacity-building program.
