The 3rd edition of the PSU Transformation Conclave and Awards, hosted by GovConnect, an initiative by ilouge Media, concluded on a high note at Shangri-La, New Delhi. This prestigious event brought together a distinguished assembly of leaders from India’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), industry experts, and policymakers to chart the course for the future of the public sector.
The event, co-hosted by Ease of Doing Business and NHEV, and supported by the Digital India BHASHINI Division, proved to be a dynamic platform for discussing transformative strategies to strengthen resilience, innovation, and sustainability within PSUs.
The day commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by an inaugural session titled ‘Embracing Change, Driving Growth’, where prominent leaders shared their vision for advancing PSUs amidst global and technological challenges.
The Lamp Lighting & Inaugural Session of the PSU Transformation Conclave 2024, themed ‘Embracing Change, Driving Growth,’ was graced by a distinguished panel of dignitaries. The event witnessed the presence of Panneerselvam Madanagopal, CEO, MeitY Startup Hub, Government of India; Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Bridge & Roof Company (India) Limited; Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman-Cum-Managing Director, Telecommunications Consultants India Limited; Abhijeet Sinha, Technocrat – EODB, Program Director – NHEV, President – CPOs of India, & Ex-CAG Member; and Fahim Haq, Director – Alliances, ilouge Media. Their collective presence underscored the importance of embracing transformation and driving growth within India’s public sector landscape.
Dr. Neeta Verma, Director General – IT, Election Commission of India and Former Director General of National Informatics Centre (NIC), MeitY, graced the occasion as a Guest of Honour. In her keynote address on digital governance, innovation, and the role of technology in transforming public sector services was truly inspiring. Dr. Verma emphasized the importance of data-driven decisions and integrating technology to enhance transparency and efficiency in governance.
Furthermore, highlighting the importance of technology, Dr. Verma said that tech serves as a critical enabler for enhancing public sector efficiency and fostering meaningful citizen engagement. By embracing digital advancements, PSUs can not only streamline operations but also build stronger connections with the people they serve, driving India toward a more transparent and inclusive future.

Chief Guest Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Former Minister of State, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, highlighted the need for innovation and sustainability in PSUs to cement their position on the global stage. In his compelling keynote address, Shri Verma shared his insights on the vital role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India’s growth and the importance of empowering the public sector to drive sustainable economic development.
His vision for a more inclusive and digitally enabled future inspired all present to explore new avenues for collaboration and growth within the PSU ecosystem.
The panel discussion on ‘PSUs at the Forefront: Advancing Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Economic Growth’ offered deep insights into the transformative role of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in shaping India’s progress. Panelists emphasized the historical importance of PSUs in building the nation’s industrial foundation while envisioning their evolution as innovation-driven, globally competitive entities by 2047. Discussions highlighted the adoption of emerging technologies like AI, automation, and green energy to boost productivity, reduce import dependency, and support sustainable development goals. Addressing strategic challenges such as privatization, governance reforms, and workforce reskilling, experts underscored the importance of balancing efficiency with public welfare. Collaboration with the private sector and robust governance were identified as pivotal to fostering innovation and growth. The panel reaffirmed PSUs’ critical role in achieving economic milestones, advancing the Digital India mission, and contributing to India’s vision of becoming a $10 trillion economy by 2047.
The panel discussion on ‘Innovating for the Future: CTO and CIO Strategies for Enhancing PSU Capabilities’ explored the transformative role of technology in modernizing India’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Panelists emphasized the critical leadership of CTOs, CIOs, and CISOs in driving innovation, aligning IT strategies with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of agility and adaptability. The adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, intelligent automation, and cloud computing was highlighted as essential for enhancing efficiency, improving operations, and ensuring resilience. Discussions addressed pressing challenges, including cybersecurity, data privacy compliance with laws like DPDPA, and evolving threat landscapes, while exploring strategies to build robust and resilient systems. The importance of leveraging cloud technologies for availability and data protection, as well as the usability of AI tools for streamlined processes and decision-making, was underscored. The panel concluded with a focus on aligning IT infrastructure with business priorities and future innovations, ensuring PSUs remain competitive and prepared for evolving challenges.

With PSUs operating strategically in across countries, the awards recognized their steadfast leadership, innovative practices, commitment to citizen engagement, and pivotal role in fostering sustainable growth. The prestigious event featured 28 organizational awards and 9 leadership accolades across diverse categories, including International Excellence, Technology Adoption, Digital Transformation, Green Initiatives, Citizen Engagement, and Outstanding Leadership.
