Senior IAS officer Radha Raturi has been appointed as the first woman Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. The official order, issued on Wednesday, directed Raturi to assume the position immediately. This significant appointment comes as Raturi takes over from Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, whose tenure concluded on the same day.
Raturi, a seasoned Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1988 batch, has a distinguished career with experience in key administrative roles. Having served in both undivided Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand since its establishment in November 2000, she brings a wealth of administrative expertise to the coveted position.
Her appointment marks a historic moment for Uttarakhand, as she becomes the first woman to hold the esteemed post of Chief Secretary in the state.
Raturi’s family has a notable background in civil services. Her husband, Anil Raturi, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, retired as the Uttarakhand Director General of Police in November 2020.
