Rajendra Prasad Goyal has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Limited, effective immediately. This decision comes after the retirement of Abhay Kumar Singh on August 31, 2022, left the position vacant.
He is currently serving as the Director (Finance) at NHPC, will take on the additional charge for a period of six months or until a permanent successor is appointed. This directive was issued by the Ministry of Power on in the last week of February 2024.
Prior to this role, he has an illustrious background in finance, having served as the Director (Finance) at NHPC. He is a certified member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Rajasthan.
Goyal succeeds Rajeev Kumar Vishnoi, the CMD of THDC India Ltd, who had been managing the additional responsibilities as NHPC’s CMD since September 1, 2022.
