Nearly four months after the retirement of V K Singh, the Special Chief Secretary to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the state government has appointed 2006-batch IAS officer Ravi Bhagat as the new Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Bhagat, who has been serving as the Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, will now take on the role of Principal Secretary while continuing to hold additional responsibilities. He will retain his position as Administrative Secretary for the Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads) and Secretary of the Punjab Rural Development Board.
The position of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister had remained vacant since V K Singh’s retirement on November 30. With Bhagat’s appointment, the Punjab government aims to strengthen administrative operations within the Chief Minister’s Office.
