Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Regional Director Anupam Kishore met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday to discuss strategies to enhance financial literacy and promote financial inclusion across the state.
During the meeting, Kishore highlighted the RBI’s ongoing efforts and recent advancements in the banking sector aimed at improving financial awareness among the citizens of Himachal Pradesh. He provided an overview of various initiatives undertaken by the RBI to ensure that financial education reaches all sections of society, with a particular focus on the rural and underserved populations.
Chief Minister Sukhu congratulated the RBI on its 90th anniversary, commending the institution for its steadfast commitment to maintaining financial stability and fostering economic growth in the country. He also recognized the RBI’s vital contribution to supporting India’s national development goals and expressed his appreciation for its role in empowering citizens through financial education.
In addition, Kishore informed the Chief Minister about a nationwide and state-level quiz on financial literacy that was recently held in Shimla for undergraduate students. The event, organized as part of the RBI’s 90th-anniversary celebrations, aimed to engage the youth in understanding financial concepts and promote responsible financial behavior.
