Schneider Electric to Invest ₹3,200 Crore in India

Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation for energy management and automation, has announced plans to invest a staggering ₹3,200 crore in expanding its industrial footprint across India by 2026. This significant investment is a testament to the company’s commitment to the Indian market and its growth potential.

Michael Lotfy Gierges, Executive Vice President of Schneider Electric’s Global Home & Distribution Division, highlighted the company’s ambitious expansion plans. These investments will be strategically spread across several states including Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

‘India is not just a market for us, but one of our four global hubs and the third-largest market,’ stated Gierges. ‘Our goal at Schneider Electric is to enhance customer support, accelerate their energy transition, and facilitate electrification efforts.’

As India’s economy continues its impressive growth trajectory, with the government aiming to elevate GDP by 2027, Schneider Electric is poised to grow alongside the nation. The company aims to add 6,500 employees to its current base of more than 37,000 employees by 2026, marking a 20% expansion in the workforce over the next three years.

Gierges emphasized that Schneider Electric’s objectives align closely with the government’s ‘India for India’ and ‘India for Global’ strategy. ‘Our focus extends beyond talent development to increasing our R&D capabilities,’ he said. ‘We plan to expand our manufacturing footprint by over 1 million square feet.’

Currently operating 30 manufacturing plants, Schneider Electric plans to leverage India’s potential for both local and global markets. This expansion not only signifies a boost to the company’s operations but also promises job creation and technological advancement in the regions where it will establish a stronger presence.

The investments by Schneider Electric come at a crucial time when India is aiming for substantial economic growth and a transition towards sustainable energy solutions. With its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions, Schneider Electric’s expansion in India is expected to play a pivotal role in the nation’s progress.
