Jharkhand: The 2×800 MW Adani Power plant in Godda, Jharkhand has begun commercial operation of its second unit. This unit has the capacity to generate 800 MW of electricity, which is now available for use in Bangladesh as per its requirement. The announcement of the second unit’s opening was made through a mandatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) by the Adani Power Company. Prior to this, the power plant had successfully completed its reliability run tests.
The Adani Power Jharkhand Limited plant at Godda has been established exclusively to export electricity to Bangladesh. In April of this year, the first unit of the plant became commercially operational, supplying electricity to Bangladesh.
The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) constructed a 134-kilometer transmission line from the Chapainawabganj border to the Bogra substation to receive electricity from the Adani Power plant in Godda.
Currently, Bangladesh imports 1160 MW of power from India. It receives 1,000 MW of electricity from Berhampur in West Bengal via Kushtia’s Bheramara and 160 MW from Suryamoni in Tripura via Comilla daily. Cross Border Electricity Trade (CBET) is only conducted between Bangladesh and India.
