SJVN Limited, a public sector undertaking in the field of energy, has inked a significant MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna). The aim of this collaboration is to revolutionize the execution of tunnelling projects by integrating advanced geological models and predictive analytics algorithms. This groundbreaking partnership is poised to dramatically reduce time and cost overruns commonly associated with such projects.
The key highlight of this collaboration is the development of predictive analytics algorithms. These cutting-edge algorithms, leveraging an array of integrated geotechnical data, will offer forecasts of potential risks and provide tailored early warning systems specifically designed for tunnelling projects. This proactive approach is expected to greatly mitigate the challenges faced during the execution phase, ensuring smoother project timelines and cost-effectiveness.
Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN, Geeta Kapur, emphasized the primary objective of the MoU, which is to pioneer methodologies that seamlessly integrate diverse geotechnical data sources. These sources will include comprehensive geological surveys, borehole data, geophysical measurements, and monitoring data gathered from SJVN’s various projects.
The collaboration also aims to delve into the complex relationship between overburden and deformation, thereby improving the evaluation and design of support systems crucial for tunnelling projects. By harnessing the power of integrated geotechnical data and 3D geological models, SJVN and IIT Patna are set to identify and analyze potential risks and hazards with precision.
