Amit Sharma, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Department and Director Census Operations & Citizen Registration, Mizoram chaired two critically important meetings in Mizoram regarding Indo-Myanmar Border connectivity related issues and Census preparedness for the upcoming 2027 nation-wide census operation to be held here.

During the first meeting held in his Secretariat office chamber, Secretary ICT Amit Sharma, took a detailed review of Joint Survey conducted by Assam Rifles alongwith BSNL team regarding the availability of connectivity at 13 International Border In-Posts (BIP) and Out-Posts (BOP) between India and Myanmar located over different disctricts of Mizoram wherein all the stakeholders including Lt Col Signals from Assam Rifles, DDG from Department of Telecommunication, heads of all Telcos including BSNL, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, officers from Power & Electricity, ICT Deprtments participated.

It was decided by chair Secretary ICT Amit Sharma in this strategically important meeting after holding due deliberations on the subject that the joint teams shall conduct a re-survey to finalise and freeze the Border locations while checking the strength of signal, power availability and land alongwith related infrastructure in LL these points which shall be concluded within a span of one month.

Apart from this, another important meeting was chaired by Amit Sharma, was in his capacity as Director Census Operations (DCO) Mizoram which was held in the Direcorate of Census Operations so as to check the level of preparedness for the upcoming Census to be conducted in the state as per Notification issued by Ministry of Home Affairs for all states of nation.

DCO Census Operations Mizoram Amit Sharma went through the detailed presentation and preparedness of team and he accordingly delineated the roles and duties to different officers at the level of Deputy Director, Assistant Directors, Statistical Experts, Enumenators etc so as to ensure total success and error-free census exercise all across the length and breadth of state of Mizoram as per the guidelines and schedule.

The team assured Director Census Amit Sharma that they shall conduct the upcoming Census exercise in Mizoram with total professionalism while assuring him that under his able guidance and with constant support from all district collectors, this exercise shall happen smoothly.

Amit also divulged in this meeting that recently, an order of the Apex Monitoring Committee has been issued as per Registrar General of India guidelines by the state Government wherein Chief Secretary Mizoram is the ex-officio chairperson of this Committee to ensure smooth coordination towards conduct of a successful Census exercise in the state.
