Three Senior Officers Appointed as Deputy Secretaries in Key Central Ministries

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of three senior officers to the post of Deputy Secretary in major ministries of the Central Government, further strengthening administrative leadership in crucial sectors.

Harleen Kaur, IAS (2012 batch, AGMUT cadre), has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Her central deputation was recommended by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Johny Tom Varghese, IAS (2014 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre), has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Mines, based in Delhi. Varghese brings experience in governance and public sector reforms, which is anticipated to support policy development in sustainable mining, mineral innovation, and resource management.

Surendra Choudhary, IPS (2013 batch, AGMUT cadre), has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi.
