UPSC Launches New Online Application Portal to Streamline Exam Registrations

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially launched its new Online Application Portal for all future examinations. The revamped platform, accessible at https://upsconline.nic.in, replaces the previous One Time Registration (OTR) system and introduces a more structured and efficient process for candidates.

The new portal is divided into four key segments displayed as separate cards on the homepage: Account Creation, Universal Registration, Common Application Form, and Examination. The first three segments can be completed at any time by aspirants, allowing them to keep their basic application details ready in advance. The fourth segment, Examination, will become active as per the official notification schedule of each exam and will require candidates to fill in exam-specific details.

This proactive arrangement is designed to save time and reduce the pressure that typically accompanies application deadlines. By completing the initial three stages in advance, candidates can ensure they are well-prepared to apply for any exam as soon as it is announced.

The Commission has emphasized the use of Aadhar Card as the preferred ID document during the Universal Registration phase. This measure aims to facilitate seamless verification, easy authentication, and creation of a permanent record that will be valid for all future UPSC examinations.

Candidates are required to register afresh on the new portal and upload all necessary documents. The OTR system will no longer be valid. To aid candidates, detailed instructions are available across the homepage and within each module of the new platform.

The portal goes live starting May 28, 2025, and will be used for accepting applications for Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) – II, 2025, and National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (NDA & NA) – II, 2025, both scheduled to be notified.

Aspiring candidates are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new portal and complete their registrations early to avoid last-minute technical difficulties.
