Uttar Pradesh Unveils Ambitious Tech & Innovation Plan Under “Viksit UP-2047”

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has unveiled an ambitious technology-driven development strategy titled “Viksit UP-2047”, aiming to position the state as a global hub for artificial intelligence, deep tech, electronics, and digital innovation by India’s centenary year of independence. The blueprint reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of leveraging technology as a catalyst for inclusive growth, employment generation, and industrial competitiveness.

Key features of the plan include the establishment of AI cities in Lucknow and Kanpur, designed to nurture research, skill development, and large-scale technology entrepreneurship. These hubs will focus on emerging areas such as generative AI, robotics, advanced analytics, and quantum computing. Complementing this, the state is prioritizing the creation of smart classrooms across government schools, universal distribution of tablets for students, and expanded use of e-learning tools to bridge educational gaps.

On the industrial front, Uttar Pradesh is looking to strengthen its semiconductor, electric vehicle, and renewable energy ecosystems. The government has proposed incentives for global investors, dedicated manufacturing corridors, and incubation centres to attract startups in cutting-edge fields. The initiative also envisions boosting software exports, particularly from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, by building IT parks and special economic zones.

Importantly, “Viksit UP-2047” ties into the central government’s broader Digital India and Make in India missions. The state’s emphasis on digital governance and e-services will improve transparency, citizen engagement, and service delivery. Industry experts suggest that if executed effectively, Uttar Pradesh could emerge as a technology powerhouse rivaling existing hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune.

This forward-looking strategy also reflects a growing recognition that future competitiveness lies in knowledge industries. By 2047, the state hopes to not only contribute significantly to India’s GDP but also become a preferred destination for global technology investments.
