Uttarakhand Rolls Out Aadhaar-Based eKYC for Faster and Secure Registration for Char Dham Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025

In a significant step towards enhancing pilgrim convenience and streamlining the registration process, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) has introduced Aadhaar Authentication and eKYC for the registration of the revered Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra. This initiative aims to reduce registration time while improving overall pilgrim experience and safety.

With Aadhaar-based online registration, authorities can efficiently monitor pilgrim movements, mitigate overcrowding at temples, and enhance weather-related information flow, especially in high-altitude regions. This technology-driven approach aligns with UTDB’s commitment to balancing tradition with innovation for a seamless pilgrimage experience.

The registration for Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025 commenced on March 20, and as of this morning, over 750,000 pilgrims have successfully availed themselves of the Aadhaar-based online registration facility. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been actively supporting state-led initiatives to enhance ease of living through digital integration. Pilgrims can register via the official portal https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or the “Tourist Care Uttarakhand” mobile application.

Key Benefits of Aadhaar-Linked Registration:

  • Faster Registration Process: Aadhaar-based digital verification significantly reduces paperwork and expedites registration.
  • Improved Resource Planning: Accurate tracking of registered pilgrims helps in efficient management of accommodations, transportation, food, and medical aid, minimizing wastage and shortages.
  • Enhanced Safety & Emergency Response: Real-time monitoring facilitates better coordination between pilgrims and authorities, ensuring quick response in case of emergencies.
  • Prevention of Duplicate Registrations: The system curbs multiple or fraudulent registrations, allowing more pilgrims to undertake the Yatra without unnecessary hurdles.

While Aadhaar-based registration is encouraged for a smoother experience, offline registration facilities at designated centers remain operational to ensure accessibility for all pilgrims.

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board remains dedicated to leveraging technology to enhance pilgrimage experiences while maintaining the sanctity and traditions of these revered sites.
