Vivek Chandrakar Tongaonkar is poised to assume the role of Director (Finance) at Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), a prestigious Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The recommendation for his appointment came from the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel after a rigorous selection process involving 12 candidates from diverse organizations.
Tongaonkar, currently serving as the Director (Finance) & Chief Financial Officer at Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), boasts a distinguished career trajectory. Commencing as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical), he holds an engineering degree from the College of Engineering, Pune, and furthered his education with an MBA in Finance from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. Tongaonkar transitioned to the Finance discipline within ONGC, where he previously served as the Executive Director – Chief Corporate Finance.
Before his stint at MRPL, Tongaonkar held the position of CFO at ONGC from April 2021 to December 2021. His experience also extends to the role of Executive Director – Chief Offshore Finance in Mumbai, where he oversaw the finance functions of ONGC’s largest operational and revenue area.
The selection process for the Director (Finance) role involved a comprehensive interview of 12 candidates, representing various organizations such as ONGC, ONGC Videsh Limited, HPCL, IOCL, OIL, MRPL, and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
