West Bengal School Department Launches Innovative Emerging Tech Summer Camp for Students of Classes VII-XI

In a major initiative to equip students with future-ready skills, the School Education Department, Government of West Bengal, in collaboration with JBNSTS, ICOE, and SEMT, is organizing a free Emerging Tech Summer Camp from June 4 to June 13, 2025. Aimed at students of Classes VII to XI, the program is designed to introduce young minds to the cutting-edge realms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Held under the banner of the AI & IoT Bootcamp, the summer camp will cover a comprehensive curriculum including:

  • Introduction to Innovation
  • Basics of AI & IoT with Hands-On Sensor and Microcontroller Projects
  • Cloud Data Visualization using Real-time IoT Sensor Data
  • Workshops on Raspberry Pi and Computer Vision
  • Drone and AI Technology Showcases
  • Capstone Projects and Future Work Planning

The initiative promises to be a game-changer for tech-curious students. Through engaging sessions and hands-on experiments, participants will learn to interface with popular microcontrollers like Arduino and ESP32, visualize sensor data on cloud dashboards, and apply computer vision to create automated solutions such as movement detection via webcam with buzzer triggers.

One of the unique highlights of the camp is the AI-powered drone showcase, where students will explore how emerging technologies are transforming fields ranging from agriculture to disaster management.

At the end of the camp, students will not only have a foundational understanding of AI and IoT but will also gain the confidence to build intelligent, connected systems of their own. They will walk away with a deeper appreciation of innovation, practical project experience, and an assignment to apply their learnings in real-world contexts.
