2 Tamil Nadu Cadre IAS Officers Transferred To Centre

Chennai: Senior IAS officers S Krishnan and Neeraj Mittal from the Tamil Nadu cadre have been transferred to the Centre.

Krishnan, a seasoned 1989 batch Indian Administrative Services officer, currently serves as the additional chief secretary to the government of Tamil Nadu. He has now been appointed as the secretary to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), succeeding Alkesh Kumar Sharma, who retired on August 31 upon superannuation.

Previously, Krishnan held significant positions such as the state finance secretary and the chief executive officer of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Board. He assumes charge of the ministry at a crucial time when India’s electronics and IT sector has ambitious plans, especially regarding semiconductors. Neeraj Mittal, a distinguished 1992-batch IAS officer, has also been appointed as the secretary to the Department of Telecommunications. Throughout his career, Mittal has held various posts in the state, including serving as the MD of the investment promotion agency Guidance.
