New Delhi: In a significant development in the field of education, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been granted the status of a deemed university.
The decision to confer upon NCERT the prestigious status of a deemed university signifies a pivotal moment in the evolution of educational institutions in India. This significant step acknowledges the remarkable contributions of NCERT to the realm of education and reaffirms its unwavering dedication to setting high standards of excellence.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, recognizing the esteemed status of NCERT, has initiated the integration of Bal Bhavans and Bal Vatika with NCERT. This forward-thinking measure aims to create a comprehensive educational environment that enhances the all-round development of children.
With this newly acquired status, NCERT is now well-positioned to offer a comprehensive range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees, thus significantly expanding its educational horizons.
During the event, the Education Minister inaugurated three laboratories, one of which is exclusively dedicated to virtual reality education and another focused on teacher training. These labs exemplify NCERT’s unwavering commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches in order to enhance the quality of education in India.
Also, NCERT has recently established a committee with the responsibility of shaping the curriculum and textbooks for classes 3 to 12. The committee aims to align the curriculum with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), which is a vital component of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This alignment guarantees that education remains pertinent, dynamic, and responsive to the evolving requirements of students and society.
