SAIL Sets Foot in Middle East with Dubai Office, Eyes Expansion Across MENA Region

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of India’s largest steel producers, has inaugurated its first international representative office in the Middle East, marking a key milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. The new office, located in Dubai, is expected to serve as a strategic hub for enhancing exports and strengthening business linkages across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The office was inaugurated by Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, in the presence of Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India to Dubai; Amarendu Prakash, CMD of SAIL; Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC; V.K. Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel; and other senior officials from SAIL, Ministry of Steel, NMDC, and MECON.

With an annual crude steel capacity of over 20 million tonnes, SAIL’s entry into the Middle East through its Dubai office is aimed at tapping into new and emerging markets. The company intends to leverage Dubai’s strategic location and business-friendly environment to boost steel exports, explore new trade opportunities, and reinforce India-UAE economic cooperation.

‘Dubai offers a strong gateway to the broader MENA region. This office will play a pivotal role in enabling SAIL to deepen its global footprint and drive forward India’s ambition to be a leading player in the global steel industry,’ said CMD, SAIL, Amarendu Prakash.
