The Delimitation Commission headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India), and Sh. Sushil Chandra, Chief Election Commissioner, and Sh. K. K. Sharma, State Election Commissioner, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, as Ex-Officio members of the Delimitation Commission had held a meeting on May 5, 2022, to finalize the Delimitation Order for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

According to the final Delimitation Order, the following will come into effect from the date to be notified by the Central Government:
9 Assembly Constituencies have been reserved for STs, out of which, 6 are in the Jammu region and 3 ACs in the Valley
All five parliamentary constituencies to have an equal number of ACs for the first time
Out of the 90 Assembly Constituencies, 43 will be part of the Jammu region and 47 of the Kashmir region
Jammu and Kashmir to be treated as a single entity for the purposes of delimitation
Patwar circle is the lowest administrative unit that has not been broken and kept in a single Assembly Constituency
All assembly constituencies shall remain within the boundary of the concerned district
Commission recommends additional seats in assembly for Kashmiri migrants and displaced persons from POJK
