Power Ministry Establishes Unnat Takniki Pradarshan Kendra for Energy Efficiency Technologies

New Delhi: The Government of India’s Ministry of Power has established a dedicated Center of Excellence, called UTPRERAK (Unnat Takniki Pradarshan Kendra), to expedite the adoption of clean technologies by industry, thus increasing India’s contribution to the global energy transition.

The Center aims to improve the energy efficiency of Indian industry and act as a key reference and resource institution on industrial energy-efficient technologies. It will showcase energy-efficient technologies in key industry sectors, while also serving as an exhibition cum information center and knowledge repository.

The Center will hold workshops and seminars to facilitate the diffusion of best practices from various key sectors among industry professionals. The Center, also known as the Advanced Industrial Technology Demonstration Center, has been established by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, at the Badarpur, New Delhi campus of the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Ministry of Power.

The Center seeks to provide intensive training to over 10,000 energy professionals from the industry and other potential sectors over the next five years. UTPRERAK will also serve as a strategic capacity-building institution and be a one-stop solution provider for energy professionals from across India for training and education in energy efficiency.

The Center also aims to provide key inputs for national energy policy formulation, link education and research in energy-efficient solutions, and develop innovative applied solutions for energy efficiency. Inaugurating the Unnat Takniki Pradarshan Kendra, the Union Minister of State for Power, Krishan Pal, emphasized the importance of adopting advanced technologies to achieve the Prime Minister’s goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.

The Minister noted that the government has introduced Production Linked Incentive Schemes in various sectors to achieve this objective and that the latest technologies are necessary for India to progress and compete in the global market.

UTPRERAK will play a significant role in improving energy efficiency in the Indian industry and saving energy, which will benefit not only the industry but also the nation.
