Jammu: The University of Jammu has recently been appointed as the nodal university by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to lead the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
This accomplishment fills the institution with immense pride and honor. The University of Jammu has been entrusted with the crucial responsibility of implementing the mandates outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, in addition to following various recommendations and regulations set by the UGC.
As part of the larger initiative, UGC has established five zonal committees to facilitate the voluntary implementation of NEP across higher education institutions nationwide. In this new capacity, the University of Jammu will assume a central role in raising awareness, organizing programs, and offering guidance to higher education institutions in Jammu and Kashmir to effectively implement NEP. This will create a platform for the exchange and adoption of best practices.
In a recent meeting conducted on August 18, 2023, the University Grants Commission (UGC) unveiled its comprehensive work plan. As part of this plan, the University of Jammu is set to organize a symposium focusing on “Skill Development and Employment.” The Office of the Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Jammu will serve as the central coordinating body for various universities in Jammu and Kashmir.
UGC’s commendable decision not only showcases the leadership and commitment of the University of Jammu in advancing education but also signifies a significant stride towards the successful implementation of NEP-2020’s transformative goals within the region.
