According to a reports, the proportion of AI/ML professionals in these companies has risen from 7% in July-September 2022 to 20%. This growth highlights the importance of 5G in driving the expansion of AI/ML in the telecom industry.

Speaking about the technologies, Sekhar Garisa, Chief Executive, Staffing Firm Foundit, mentioned that in the telecom industry, there are both enterprise business-related and emerging technology- focused AI/ML roles. The roles such as network optimization specialist, data scientist, AI/ML infrastructure engineer, and cybersecurity expert are in demand, he said.

According to Sachin Alug, Chief Executive, NLB Services, AI/ML professionals provide business needs such as network optimization, fraud detection, automated customer service, and predictive analytics.

The telecom giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have ramped up their recruitment efforts for AI/ML specialists due to the integration of 5G services. Jio is particularly interested in candidates skilled in data engineering and machine learning, while Bharti Airtel has witnessed a growing demand for professionals proficient in Java and cloud technologies.

Reliance Industries, at its annual general meeting, announced that it is augmenting its AI/ML workforce to build India-specific solutions in the area. Jio Platforms, the holding company of Jio, already has multiple AI/ML departments.
