Centre Launches ‘Dashboard’ Portal for Real-time, Prompt and Effective Parliament Business

In a landmark move towards digitizing and streamlining parliamentary proceedings, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, has officially launched the cutting-edge software application “Dashboard.” This pioneering portal, developed by the Ministry of Science & Technology, promises to usher in a new era of efficiency and transparency in the functioning of the Indian Parliament.

The “Dashboard” application is designed to provide real-time, prompt, and effective access to critical parliamentary information, encompassing Parliament Questions, Acts of Parliament, Gazette Notifications of the Government of India, and Cabinet Notes. This digital platform marks a significant step towards harnessing technology to enhance the overall parliamentary process.

Speaking while launching the software application “Dashboard”, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the new portal should serve as a dashboard for all activities of DST. He called upon the DST officials to make use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven technology to analyse Parliament Questions on various parameters including member’s profile.

Interacting with scientists and senior officials of DST about ways to reach the benefits of S&T to people, Dr Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction that the DST alone has funded about 12,000 or more than one lakh StartUps in the country. Secretary, DST Dr Abhay Karandikar pointed out that some of DST funded Startups are today doing very well and, amongst them, Ideaforge Technology Ltd., a leading player in drone technologies in the country, is listed on the BSE and came out with its IPO in June this year.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, in a couple of years the Startup space is going to get very crowded at the pace at which the Startup boom is happening in the country. A remarkable feature is that a host of well-developed portals have been launched by Startups, particularly in the peripheral cities, thanks to the spread of 5G Internet and Broadband across the length and breadth of the country.

There is a pressing need to establish a structured mechanism for monitoring the advancement of startups, given the burgeoning count that now exceeds 1.25 lakh, encompassing over 100 Unicorns. This mechanism aims to meticulously track the developmental trajectory of these startups, ensuring their sustained growth. The focus is particularly on safeguarding startups that have benefitted from governmental technical and financial support, preventing their potential loss.

The Minister also laid the Foundation Stone of the new Auditorium-cum-Guest House Complex in the premises of the ‘Technology Bhavan’ which is the headquarters of the Department of Science & Technology (DST). He unveiled the plaque at the site and also took part in the Bhoomi Pujan.

Construction is currently underway for a cutting-edge Auditorium Block in the Technology Bhawan Complex, boasting a seating capacity of 500 individuals and covering an expansive 5000 square meters. Complementing this state-of-the-art facility is a double basement car parking area spanning 9000 square meters.

The ambitious project is scheduled to reach completion within the next 24 months, with IRCON ISL serving as the Project Management Consultant. Their expertise ensures meticulous oversight and adherence to the highest standards of construction, promising the delivery of a sophisticated and top-tier Auditorium Block. This facility is set to become a focal point within the Technology Bhawan Complex, catering to a diverse range of events and adding vibrancy to the overall environment.
