In a landmark event held in Lucknow, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, jointly inaugurated the PM SHRI Schools initiative in the state today. The launch ceremony, attended by various dignitaries, marked a significant step towards providing world-class education by upgrading and modernizing over 1000 schools in Uttar Pradesh.
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lauded the government’s commitment to improving school infrastructure. He emphasized that the upgradation and modernization of over 1000 schools under the PM-SHRI initiative in Uttar Pradesh are crucial steps towards providing quality education.
Pradhan praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for swiftly implementing the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the state over the past three years. He highlighted that the first phase of the PM SHRI scheme covers 928 government schools, including 81 Kendriya/Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
The Minister underlined the transformative potential of NEP 2020 as a philosophical document, asserting its capability to lead globally. He emphasized the significance of Uttar Pradesh, contributing nearly 20% of the country’s 26 crore students, in realizing the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that 1753 schools across the state have been chosen for upgrading as PM SHRI Schools. These schools will witness improvements in infrastructure, including Baalvatika, smart classrooms, science laboratories, digital libraries, and sports facilities, fostering the development of integrated campuses for holistic school education.
The launch event also featured the dignitaries visiting an exhibition set up by school children, showcasing the progress and initiatives undertaken for the betterment of education in the state.
