In a significant leap towards enhancing digital capabilities in the education sector, S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), inaugurated ERNET India’s state-of-the-art integrated web portal for educational institutes at the organization’s headquarters today.
The newly launched portal aims to simplify the online presence of educational institutions by offering comprehensive services, including domain registration, DNS, and value-added features such as Website as a Service (WaaS) and Learning Management as a Service (LMaaS). Users can choose from a variety of templates tailored for schools, colleges, and universities, allowing them to effortlessly create their own websites and Learning Management Systems. With a single click, users can customize and publish their websites and LMS, streamlining the process and enabling institutions to establish a robust online presence.
Developed using open-source software and cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), the portal signifies a commitment to innovation in the education sector.
During the launch event, Secretary S Krishnan also inaugurated ERNET India’s new conference hall and engaged in discussions with officers and staff. ERNET India, a not-for-profit scientific society under MeitY, serves as the exclusive domain registrar for all education and research institutes with ‘ac.in,’ ‘edu.in,’ and ‘res.in’ domain names.
In addition to domain registration, ERNET India plays a crucial role in providing a range of services to educational and research institutes, including web accessibility, campus Wi-Fi services, smart classrooms, and connectivity through terrestrial and satellite-based systems. The organization is also actively involved in the establishment of data centers, contributing to the digital infrastructure of the country.
