Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution and Textiles had virtually addressed the fifth edition annual Launchpad the Entrepreneurship summit organized by BITS, Pilani on Saturday. Addressing the summit, he said that Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) will democratize e-commerce and also protect small businesses by offering them equal opportunity.
He opined that as UPI has allowed people to make payments and money transfers through an open network, similarly ONDC will transform the e-commerce segment in India. It will enable buyers and sellers to be digitally visible and make transactions through an open network, irrespective of what platform or application they are using.
Goyal encouraged the budding entrepreneurs to scale up diversity in startups, explore the new business, promote agri- preneurs (agri sector entrepreneurs), Tex- preneurs (Textiles), Edu-preneurs (Education), and bring innovation in emerging tech such as AI, Metaverse, Web 3 and areas such as cyber security.
He asked the young entrepreneurs to help India accomplish the next level of prosperity and efficiently fulfill the aspirations of billion-plus citizens who aspire to be stakeholders in our aspirations and prosperity through deep innovation.
