The Delhi Directorate of Education has issued a directive to private schools in the city, emphasizing the necessity for prior approval before implementing any fee hikes for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic session. Officials have stated that no private unaided school in Delhi, which has been allocated land by government agencies, is permitted to raise fees without the explicit sanction from the Directorate of Education.
A circular issued on March 27th outlined the procedure for private schools seeking approval for fee increases. The Directorate of Education has requested all heads and managers of private unaided schools to submit their proposals via the official website between April 1st and April 15th.
‘These are standing instructions that form a part of the affiliation criteria for private schools. We are reiterating these guidelines as the new academic session is commencing from April 1st,’ stated a Delhi government official to Media.
As per the circular, any school failing to submit a proposal will be prohibited from increasing fees until official sanction is granted by the Directorate of Education. The DoE has explicitly mentioned that it will take stringent action, in accordance with statutory provisions, against schools that implement fee hikes without the requisite approval.
The move by the Delhi Directorate of Education aims to ensure transparency and fairness in fee adjustments within private unaided schools, prioritizing the interests of students and parents. Schools are urged to adhere to the specified timeline for proposal submission to facilitate a smooth process for fee modifications in the upcoming academic year.
